Terms of use
Last updated 18 September 2026
By using ShipCert you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
ShipCert is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with Transport Canada, and its calculations are advisory. See the disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
Your account
You need an account to use ShipCert. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, give us accurate information, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You must be old enough to work at sea in your jurisdiction.
Your data is yours
You keep ownership of everything you enter. You grant us only the permission needed to store it, process it, and show it back to you — nothing further.
Accuracy
You are responsible for what you enter. We try hard to encode the regulations correctly and we cite our sources, but we do not warrant that ShipCert's figures are accurate, complete, or current, and you must not rely on them alone for an application or any other decision that matters.
Availability
ShipCert is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, and during early access it may change, break, or lose data. Keep your original signed testimonials and certificates — ShipCert is a convenience, never your only copy.
Acceptable use
- Do not enter records of service that did not happen, or falsify a signature.
- Do not use ShipCert to break the law or to mislead a certifying authority.
- Do not attempt to access other users' data, or disrupt the service.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of ShipCert — including a rejected or delayed certificate application, lost earnings, or a lapsed certificate. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending it
You can stop using ShipCert and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which ShipCert operates.
